Athlon ranks Pitt's Paul Chryst as No. 10 football coach in the ACC

Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

Athlon has another one of their offseason lists out for the season - this time, focusing on the coaches.

The site slotted all 14 (including Louisville and without Maryland) head football coaches in the ACC. Pitt head coach Paul Chryst checked in at No. 10 overall. He ranked ahead of only Dave Clawson at Wake Forest (in his first year), Dave Doeren at North Carolina State, Scott Shafer at Syracuse, and Mike London at Virginia.

Chryst is pretty low on the list but it's hard to argue with that right now. His recruiting classes haven't been terrible, but they've not been in the top 25, either. On the field, his team has been 6-6 in both years he's been the coach. The only coach that has done less that was ranked ahead of him was Boston College's Steve Addazio.

Gotta say that Chryst is ranked exactly where I'd put him. You could argue that he could be above Addazio, but it's also no slam dunk that he's better than a guy like Shafer. No. 10 seems right to me.
