Lamar Patterson has been garnering a lot of interest from NBA teams recently. The 6'6 athletic forward had a terrific senior season averaging 17.9 ppg while leading the Panthers to the round of 32 in the NCAA tournament.
Recently, Patterson posted a diary entry on his pursuit of his NBA dream to the website Basketball Insiders.
As for whether or not he will get drafted remains to be seen. Recently he has worked out for a plethora of NBA teams including the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets. Patterson is also reportedly going to work out for: San Antonio Spurs, Charlotte Bobcats and Cleveland Cavaliers.
For possible landing spots for Patterson read Stephen Gertz's assessment.
What is appealing to NBA scouts is not just Patterson's scoring ability but the way that he passes. His 4.3 apg led the Panthers this season. He has a knack at finding the open player and putting the ball in prime position for a basket.
I think that Patterson's chances at getting drafted are fairly slim. If he does not get drafted, he will sign on to a team for training camp immediately following the draft.
The NBA draft will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Thursday, June 26.
