DeJuan Blair traded by Dallas Mavericks to Washington Wizards

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Former Pitt center DeJuan Blair is on the move again. This time, Blair is headed to the Washington Wizards after being traded by the Dallas Mavericks.

In exchange, the Mavs will get a second-round draft pick of the Wizards in 2009, Emir Preldzic. Preldzic has yet to play in an NBA game.

The deal was a sign-and-trade. Blair will reportedly get $6 million over the next three years, with a team option for the third year.

Blair only got about 15 minutes per game in the regular season last year, but even though he played even less in the postseason, he really made his mark there. In fewer minutes, Blair's scoring and rebounding averages went up (6.7 points and 6.2 rebounds). And as often has been the case, when he got into games, he made things happen.

The Mavericks didn't make it out of the first round of the postseason in facing the NBA champion San Antonio Spurs, but Blair definitely made an impression. In only 14 minutes of Game 2, he had eight points, seven rebounds, and four steals. In Games 4 and 6, he had double doubles. Blair was vital in Game 6 - with the Mavs facing elimination, he got a 2014 playoff-high with 29 minutes, had ten points, 14 rebounds, and our steals.

Will have more on Blair and his potential fit with the Wizards later.
