Former Pitt star Lesean McCoy up for ESPY award

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

I've got to admit, I've never been much of a fan of award shows. I'm pretty sure I've never watched a complete show for the Grammys, Emmys, etc., and I'm equally disinterested in the ESPYs. Other than catching a few minutes by mistake and watching what was probably the greatest moment in the history of the event, I've not seen very much of it.

So, yeah, other than that, not a huge fan of award shows.

Did think it was worth mentioning, though, that former Pitt star Lesean McCoy has been nominated for Best NFL Player for the ESPYs. He's the league's defending rushing champion and going up against Russell Wilson (lolwut?), Peyton Manning, Jamaal Charles, and Luke Kuechly, probably stands some sort of chance.

Obviously, Manning looks to be the biggest competition here. I'm not sure a defensive player like Kuechly has much of a chance and Shady had a better year as a running back, besting Charles. Wilson could get some recognition with his Seahawks winning the Super Bowl, but no one in their right mind would declare him a better player than Manning last season.

If you're so inclined and into those sorts of things, feel free to head over to ESPN and give Shady your support by voting for him.
