Pitt gets back on the ACC basketball pommel horse today with a road game against Boston College. After the spanking on the road at North Carolina State, you have to think the team will come out a little more determined in tonight's game.
It's a winnable one for the Panthers (10-4) as the Eagles (7-5) aren't exactly setting the world on fire. That said, I'm really not convinced that Pitt is a much better team than Boston College. BC is fresh off of an ugly loss against Duke and prior to beating UMass-Lowell, they lost to USC. Like Pitt, they've pretty much won their easy games and lost their difficult ones, though they did beat a 10-4 New Mexico team. The Eagles' other three losses were to West Virginia, Dayton, and UMass.
Last year, Pitt won by seven at home, 66-59.
This is one of those games that is going to be pretty unfair to Pitt. If they win, it won't due much to ease concerns. If they lose, all out panic will ensue. Even if the Panthers were to go in and utterly dominate Boston College (something I don't expect), there will, and should, still be plenty of questions.
The game is on ESPN3, but locally, it will be on Root Sports. Join us at 9:00 p.m. to comment live during the game.
