(Don't) Bet the Farm: Pitt vs Purdue Predictions

Cardiac Hill picks Pitt's first (official) big game of the year

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Hello all!
We do a slightly different format for Pitt basketball predictions. We'll be cherry picking some of the early games to do predictions for instead of doing every single one.

This week, Pitt has a top 15 out of conference match up against a pretty good Purdue team. They haven't beaten anybody super noteworthy, but do have a win over a decent Florida team. Pitt is probably going to be Purdue's toughest test so far, and Pitt getting them at home is pretty big with what the Oakland Zoo can do.

It was announced that Purdue's second leading scorer, Rapheal Davis, is doubtful with a knee injury. He's averaging close to 12 points per game, and 46% from three point range (though he hasn't taken too many threes). Similar to Pitt, Purdue has a ton of depth and a very good freshman in Caleb Swanigan who Pitt wanted out of high school as well. Purdue has a couple seniors, but have a ton of youth on their team.

The game is pretty much a pick em on most betting lines, so I think Pitt will have a very good shot in this one. There is just so much unknown about this team especially with their game against Gonzaga getting axed after a half. That game would have been a REALLY good barometer for how skilled this team is. I'm gonna take Purdue, but I would not be surprised in the slightest if Pitt won. I'll be there to cover the game tonight, so we'll have reactions after the game.

Anson - Purdue (0-0)

Aron - Pitt (0-0)

Corey - Pitt (0-0)

JD - Purdue (0-0)

Jim - Pitt (0-0)

Stephen - Pitt (0-0)
