The Panthers are nearing the end of the regular season road and so are our writer's picks. I hold a slim lead over Anson, JD, and Jim with only a few picks left. Sunday will provide a chance for one brave writer to tie it up as Jim will be the only Cardiac Hill member to pick Wake Forest for the game on tomorrow night. Is he on to something or simply just on something good? He'll break down his Tale of the Tape tomorrow.
The game is on the road, where Pitt has struggled this season. The Demon Deacons also provide the Panthers a tough matchup on the glass, where they rank 17th in the country in rebounding. In case you have been under a rock for a good while, Pitt has not had the best year bringing down boards. Michael Young and the others down low will have to be aggressive and attack to make sure Wake doesn't pull the upset and ruin Pitt's NCAA chances.
The game will be tomorrow at 6:30 and everyone can watch it on ESPNU as first year Deacon coach Danny Manning brings in a 12-16 overall record, and 4-11 in the ACC, into the game. Pitt will come in with a 19-10 mark and a chance to secure at least a .500 mark in the conference for the year. They are 8-7 right now and only two games will remain after Sunday. The Lawrence Joel Coliseum will provide the setting for tomorrow's contest. Pitt is right on the edge with some saying they are in and some saying they are out. The latter will get a lot more company on that opinion if the Panthers should fall.
See below and let us know if you agree with the majority or if you side with Jim in his selection.
Chris (11-4): Pitt
Anson (10-5): Pitt
JD (10-5): Pitt
Jim (10-5): Wake Forest
Aron (8-7): Pitt
Stephen (8-7): Pitt
