Pitt vs. Syracuse: Open Gamethread

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Pitt heads into today's game against Syracuse with, you guessed it, some questions. After a convincing win against Notre Dame, the Panthers stumbled against lowly Bryant, nearly sucking out every bit of momentum they built up with the victory against the Irish.

This year's team has been tough to figure out, but as we all recognize, youth has at least something to do with it. To put together a complete game against a top ten team and then struggle against a bad NEC team at home really makes little sense.

What Pitt team will we get today? Who knows. Obviously, though, Pitt will have to show up with a better effort in their last game to beat the Orange. Syracuse, like Pitt, is a bit down this season, but still a dangerous team. Senior Rakeem Christmas leads the way with 18.4 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, and he'll be a load for whoever draws him today.

On the other hand, Pitt has a player that's done pretty well lately in Jamel Artis. Overall, Artis averages a modest 12.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. But in his past six, he's been on absolute tear, scoring 21.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest. Safe to say that Syracuse could have its hands a little full as well.
