The NIT results have just been announced and the bracket is finalized. As expected, Pitt made the field as a No. 4 seed and will face George Washington (21-12) in the opening game. The Panthers will be playing for the right to play the winner of Temple and Bucknell.
The four No. 1 seeds are Old Dominion, Temple, Colorado State, and Richmond. Those were the four teams announced as the first four out by the NCAA Tournament selection committee earlier in the night.
Obviously not the result most of us were hoping for. However, to get into the NIT with the way the Panthers finished the season is still better than nothing. Pitt stumbled their way to four consecutive losses with a couple to some pretty bad teams in Wake Forest and Florida State.
Now we have to find out if the team shows up or packs things in for the season. We'll obviously have more on the field later as well as a look at the Panthers' matchup.
