The NCAA wrestling championships came to a conclusion on Saturday and overall, Pitt placed 21st at the event. Ohio State won the title scoring a total of 102 points.
The Panthers were buoyed by star senior Tyler Wilps, who reached the finals of the 174-pound weight class before falling late to Penn State's Matt Brown in a controversial finish.
Pitt finished with a total of 23 points in the event and had six wrestlers there. The Panthers got contributions from five of their wrestlers, including Wilps, Ryan Solomon, Mikey Racciato, Troy Reaghard, and Max Thomusseit. All five guys had at least one victory and freshman Dom Forys was the only Pitt representative shut out in the event, as he went 0-2.
The Panthers lose Wilps, Thomusseit, and Reaghard next season, and while their younger guys all get a year older, Pitt still will be need to replace quite a bit of production.
