While the Panthers have a guard (Damon Wilson) and a center (Rozelle Nix) committed as part of their 2015 class, they're still in the running for top recruit Cheick Diallo.
Diallo had quite the week over the past seven days, hosting virtually all of his potential suitors. Pitt head coach Jamie Dixon was first on the list, seeing the center on Monday. Kansas' Bill Self checked in on Wednesday, and Steve Lavin (St. John's) and Fred Hoiberg (Iowa State) followed up on Thursday. The only one of his other reported options that didn't meet up with him this week was Kentucky - and they've been a little busy with this whole NCAA Tournament thing.
I'm still not all that high on Pitt's chances but we'll see. There's so much that can still happen. A few things that could go in the Panthers' favor are some potential coaching changes. Lavin is now out at St. John's and the Chicago Bulls are reportedly interested in Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg. Pitt still has some stiff competition, but if Hoiberg were to leave as well, that should at least help matters.
