Pitt's Brianna Kiesel named first team all ACC

The star guard has been recognized as one of the conference's best.

Anybody that follows me on twitter knows I am a gigantic fan of Brianna Kiesel. She's easily in my top 10 favorite Pitt basketball players, and she's been mostly unknown outside of Pitt the previous three seasons because the rest of her team was not great. Combined with the turnaround Pitt is experiencing this year, Kiesel is finally starting to get noticed as she was named First Team All-ACC.

Kiesel finished the regular season ranked in the top-5 of five ACC statistical categories, including points (4th - 18.5), assists (2nd - 4.7), assists/TO ratio (1st - 2.3), steals (2nd - 2.2) and free throw percentage (2nd - 86.8).

Kiesel had 16 games this season with 20 points or more, including eight of her last 11 games. Her 16 game total of 20 or more points is the second most in the ACC this season.

The Utica, N.Y., native is also one of 15 finalists for the prestigious Nancy Liebermann Award, given annually to the nation's top point guard by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

With all her success on the court, she still managed to maintain a 4.0 GPA last semester as she works on her second degree from Pitt. She was also named an ACC All Academic selection, and received the ACC Post Graduate scholarship as well. I'm not sure you can do any better as a Panther to represent your school.

Congratulations to Brianna, and here's to hoping her final season at Pitt continues to finish well.
