With the end of the college basketball season come the earliest of early preseason predictions. Bovada has released their early odds to win the national championship next year and, as you might expect, Pitt enters a longshot.
The Panthers were given 100:1 odds to win it all and that ranks them in a tie for 45th if you compare that to the teams with better odds. Pitt may well have a chance to fare better than many of the teams in front of them but based on what we saw this season, it would be difficult to give them significantly better odds. Despite the fact that I fully expect the team to be better since they lose little from a very young team, it's hard to quantify how much better they can be right now.
North Carolina tops the list at 6:1 and other ACC mates ranking ahead of the Panthers are Virginia (12:1), Duke (16:1), Louisville (33:1), North Carolina State (33:1), Notre Dame (33:1), Miami (40:1), Florida State (50:1), and Syracuse (66:1).
Joining Pitt at 100:1 were Cal, Illinois, Iowa, Marquette, Minnesota, Missouri, Ole Miss, Providence, San Diego State, St. John's, and Vanderbilt.
