Durand Johnson transferring to St. John's

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

A couple of weeks ago, it was announced that Pitt forward Durand Johnson would be transferring out of the program. Recently, his new home was revealed as Johnson will transfer to St. John's.

Last week, I wrote that it was revealed that West Virginia and St. John's were two schools he was visiting. As I said then, to me, he didn't have much of a fit with the Mountaineers so it didn't surprise me not to see him end up there.

Johnson will now get the chance to finish his career by playing for NBA legend Chris Mullin in a new atmosphere. It will be interesting to see how he fits there since, as Norman from SB Nation's St. John's site, Rumble in the Garden, notes, the Red Storm have a few other similar players. The flip side, as he says, is that St. John's is also losing quite a bit of their scoring from last season.

If nothing else, Johnson should get his chance to contribute.
