Pitt's softball team had a special run in the ACC Tournament this past week and Saturday night, they learned that it propelled them to an NCAA Tournament bid.

The Panthers reached the tournament for the first time ever and the team will face the Cal Bears on Friday at 3:30 p.m. on ESPNU.

Pitt picked up two quality wins in the ACC Tournament last week in defeating No. 2 seed North Carolina and No. 3 seed Notre Dame on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, Pitt hung with No. 1 seed and top ten team, Florida State before losing a game that was tied 2-2 until late in the game when the Seminoles pulled away for a 6-2 victory.

It goes without saying but the program deserves a lot of credit for a big season. Hopefully, they're able to continue some of the momentum they've built up this season in the tournament.
