Former Pitt receiver Manasseh Garner signs with Cleveland Browns

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Former Pitt receiver Manasseh Garner went unselected but signed as a free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs following this year's NFL Draft. His time there was short, but Garner will get another shot to play in the pros as he was signed by the Cleveland Browns this week.

I'm not sure where Garner will play, but the article linked above calls him a tight end. SB Nation's Browns site, FWIW, thinks he may play at fullback, the position he played with the Chiefs before being let go.

As I said when he initially caught on with the Chiefs, a big part of his value is tied up in his versatility. He has experience as a wide receiver, tight end, and fullback. That alone may be the reason he continues to get looks by clubs despite his modest stats at Pitt as a receiver.

We'll see what his chances are of sticking, but great to see him end up in someone's camp. If nothing else, he'll at least have the experience of a training camp to add to his resume.
