Projected Starters - Shakir Soto, Ejuan Price
Shakir Soto will be back for his junior season, and comes into the year with plenty of experience. Soto started every game last season, and played in every game in his freshman campaign. He had a dip in production last year, but is still a promising player that will get plenty of reps this season.
Ejuan Price has played in only 19 games in an injury-plagued career, but looks poised to be a starter in his senior campaign. Price has been productive in his brief windows of playing time, and looks to be a big part of the team in 2015.
Top Reserves - Allen Edwards Shane Roy
Allen Edwards comes in as a lightly recruited JUCO transfer, but I think he will have an opportunity to play early. Edwards has size and speed, and will get a chance at the very least. Beyond the starters, plenty of guys will have a chance to work their way into the lineup.
Shane Roy is coming off a redshirt season. Roy was a solid recruit coming out of high school and is a big player at the end spot. It's hard to say right now if he will be on the two-deep, but there will be fierce competition and he at least figures into the race.
The Rest - Michael Dunn, Reggie Green, Zach Poker, Hez Trahan
Reggie Green is making the move to defensive end after working with the linebackers last two seasons. He is a bit undersized, and will need to work his way into the lineup.
Zach Poker is an intriguing player as he too makes the move from linebacker. Poker possesses great size and could work his way into the rotation.
Hez Trahan is big body that is coming off a redshirt season, with a lot of question marks at DE right now, he could play his way into the mix.
Michael Dunn is the lone walk-on in the group, and will not be heading tor much playing time in 2015.
Suspension - Rori Blair
It remains to be seen what kind of punishment will be given to Rori Blair after his recent off-field troubles. A long suspension given the circumstances would not be out of the question and it's unknown when he gets back onto the field. Blair led the team in sacks last season, and with another year in the program and the expertise of the new coaching staff, many expected him to benefit greatly.
Transfer - Dewayne Hendrix
Dewayne Hendrix will have to sit out the entire 2015 season to complete his transfer from Tennessee. Hendrix was once a four-star top 100 recruit coming out of high school with offers from the likes of Florida, Ohio State, and Penn State along with many others. He played some in his true freshman season with the Vols and expects to be a major factor for next season for Pitt.
