In case you haven't heard, Pitt has a moderately important game on Thursday night against the Virginia Tech Hokies. It could serve as a de facto elimination game of sorts in the race for the ACC Coastal Division title - particularly for the Panthers, who have already lost to North Carolina. The Panthers are hoping that despite potentially bad weather that students and fans will still turn out.
Because the game is on a Thursday, some students will have late afternoon or night classes. On Monday, the Panther Pitt issued a formal request for help from the head football coach Pat Narduzzi, as well as athletics director Scott Barnes and Chancellor Gallagher:
.@PittChancellor @PittADBarnes @CoachDuzzPittFB Can we can have Thursday night classes cancelled for this coastal throw down against VT?

Don't worry, students - Narduzzi has it covered:

Yeah, so no, this probably doesn't count as an official excuse. But my guess is that students will take matters into their own hands if professors are unwilling to oblige. And with it looking like a cold, rainy evening in Pittsburgh for the game, they'll likely need all of the students there that they can get since the general attendance might be a bit down.
