Pitt shocks No. 2 Clemson on late field goal for 43-42 win

Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

In what can only be described as a world-class shocker, Pitt pulled a massive upset over Clemson on a late field goal to stun the No. 2 Tigers on the road, 43-42.

The Panthers hung with Clemson all night and even when things got a bit dicey, the defense would get a hold. Pitt got one final stop on 4th down as the Tigers opted to go for a short conversion. With one minute left, quarterback Nathan Peterman led the team down the field and put kicker Chris Blewitt in position for a game-winner.

Blewitt had a rough day, earlier missing an extra point and a field goal just before halftime. But this time the senior came through, calmly knocking down a 48-yarder with a few seconds left to seal Clemson's fate. The victory, on a lesser note, makes the team bowl-eligible.

We'll have more in a bit but for now ... just get out there and celebrate the Panthers' big win.
