After a somewhat rocky start against Eastern Michigan last week, Pitt continues its men's basketball season with a game tonight against Gardner-Webb.
The Panthers needed two overtimes at home to shake Eastern Michigan for a mostly uninspiring win. It was nice to see them pull out the victory but, obviously, they'll have to get better. They can start by simply knocking down some more shots. Against Eastern Michigan, the Panthers made less than 40% of their attempts.
Tonight's opponent should be easier. Gardner-Webb is 0-1 on the season having been routed in their first game against SMU, losing 72-44 after a close first half. It's already evident from that score that the Bulldogs had trouble scoring, but they also had only two players in double figures in scoring and they both barely got there (Tyrell Nelson had 13 and David Efianayi had ten. Against SMU, Gardner-Webb also shot only 30.6% from the field.
Hopefully Pitt comes out a bit more focused and has an easier time of things tonight.
