Pitt vs. Yale: Open Gamethread

Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

After a nice win over Marquette last week, the Pitt basketball team gets back to it tonight with a game against Yale.

If you were hoping for a break with tonight's game, no such luck. The Bulldogs aren't your typical non-conference doormat and are beyond respectable. Last year, in fact, they won 23 games and not only made the NCAA Tournament but upset 5-seed Baylor in the first round before bowing out to Duke.

This year, Yale already has a decent win, knocking off P5 program Washington on the road. They were routed by Virginia, but are very dangerous.

Yale's non-conference schedule is solid with games again Pitt, top ten Virginia, Washington, and Temple. Having already played Virginia and Washington, and after last year's run, they certainly won't be intimidated by playing Pitt.

Things could have been worse for the Panthers. Yale's leading scorer from last year, junior Makai Mason, is out for the season with a broken foot. That should make things a little easier, but Yale is still incredibly dangerous and they knocked off Washington without him.
