Panther of the Game: Quadree Henderson

The receiver/kick returner becomes a multiple-time winner of this award

NCAA Football: Pittsburgh at Miami Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Jordan Whitehead came away with ten tackles in Pitt’s loss to Miami on Saturday while Saleem Brightwell also turned in a solid game. But after banging my head off the wall since the game ended, I selected Quadree Henderson for the Panther of the Game.

Henderson hit paydirt for a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown that helped Pitt tie up the game early on. He also checked in with one catch to go along with 38 yards rushing, including a 22-yard carry.

Henderson’s jet sweeps helped keep the defense off balance and gained yardage. Of course, he also had a key fumble at the start of the second half. But just about any Pitt player you can name had a key mistake in yesterday’s loss. Henderson performed all year and did again yesterday to keep Pitt in the game with an electrifying kickoff return for a touchdown.

Despite the fact that Pitt lost, things would have been even uglier without Henderson on the field.
