Pitt vs. Northwestern Pinstripe Bowl Open Gamethread

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Pitt faces Northwestern today in the Pinstripe Bowl. Afternoon game in the middle of the week will certainly hurt viewership somewhat as some people are back at work. But I'll be here and watching.

As I wrote on Tuesday, Pitt has a pretty good chance to come away with a ninth win here. It's not guaranteed, of course, and if the Panthers decide to not show up, then there could be an upset. But I also feel pretty confident in that head coach Pat Narduzzi has not allowed this team to really have lapses. Simply put, they win the games they should and this is a game they should win.

A victory here would not only give them a great ninth win with a challenging schedule, but also keeps them in the rankings as the season ends, giving some momentum for next year. I'm not sure the Panthers will be ranked in the preseason with losses at quarterback, running back, and on the offensive line, but being ranked at the end of this year will at least keep them in the discussion as we head into the offseason.
