While Pitt picked up a few late commits, there was some talk about one sticking around and honoring his prior commitment. Fortunately for the Panthers, linebacker Chase Pine still landed with Pitt on National Signing Day.
Pitt was in the door relatively early for him, getting his initial verbal over the summer. But recently, it looked like he might have a change of heart as he decided on the whole 'Pick the hat' routine with Pitt, Virginia Tech, and Iowa State. But on National Signing Day, the hat he selected was that of the Panthers'.
Pine is a big get for the Panthers and per Rivals, his other offers reportedly included Cal, Georgia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and several others. He has the potential to be one of the standout players in Pitt's emerging recruiting class that looks to be worthy of a Top 25 ranking.
All's well that ends well.
