Pitt vs. Virginia Open Gamethread

Amber Searls-USA TODAY Sports

Pitt begins a brutal three-game stretch today with a game against Virginia. The Panthers at least get this game at home - after today, the Panthers will travel on the road to face two more ranked teams in Miami and North Carolina.

Virginia is tough, but has shown some cracks in conference play, losing games to Florida State, Virginia Tech, and Georgia Tech - all teams the Panthers defeated. Those games all came on the road and that's where the Cavaliers have been a little vulnerable. Up until their last two road games (both wins against Louisville and Wake Forest), Virginia was 1-4 away from home. With the game at The Pete, this may be the most winnable game of the three.

Pitt desperately needs to win at least one of these games. Not only are they still without a big win, but losing three in a row this late in the year to anybody just looks bad at the end of the season when the selection committee needs to decide who's in and who's out. The Panthers get a chance to avoid that scenario today at home.

Game time is at noon - comment live here during the game.
