Arizona Cardinals Undrafted Free Agents: Pitt center Artie Rowell lands tryout with team

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Pitt center Artie Rowell went unselected in last weekend's NFL Draft, but the former Pitt center is still getting a shot to play in the NFL. Rowell has signed as an undrafted free agent with the Arizona Cardinals and joins J.P. Holtz, Lafayette Pitts, and Nicholas Grigsby as Panthers that have latched on with teams in some fashion.

Rowell said the team is looking for interior linemen, so it could mean he plays guard. He will attend the team's rookie minicamp this weekend on an undrafted free agent deal and was to arrive there on Thursday.

Throughout his career he was an important player for Pitt and he was a team captain last year. He started two seasons for the Panthers and started part of a third before suffering a season-ending knee injury. I don't know that I'd call him a standout, but any three-year starter is a capable player and it's nice to see him get this kind of shot after that injury derailed his junior year.
