Pittsburgh Basketball Club Pro Am rosters set as Panthers return to field

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

As I mentioned before, Pitt returned to the annual Pittsburgh Basketball Club Pro Am Event for 2016. Rosters and the schedule for this year are now set.

Pitt players on the same team include:

UPMC - Damon Wilson and Rozelle Nix

Duca/Nepa Road Warriors - Sheldon Jeter and Cam Johnson

Systems One - Jamel Artis and Corey Manigault (with Pitt alum Mike Lecak)

PBC - Ryan Luther and Justice Kithcart (with Pitt alum Chevy Troutman)

Obviously, there are some notable guys missing, including Michael Young, the team's best player. Chris Jones and Jonathan Milligan are also MIA, as is incoming freshman Crisshawn Clark. I'm not sure if there will be any late additions or not, but these are the rosters as currently presented.

Also of note is that West Virginia is apparently not participating this year. They were included in past years, including the last one back in 2014 before last year's event was canceled.

Games will be at Montour High School and play begins this week on Wednesday. Here's the schedule.

The annual disclaimer I generally put out there for the event is that you have to take the games into context. While it's a great chance to see Pitt players and how they may have developed, you need to keep in mind that they're not playing alongside the guys they'll be suiting up with in the regular season. Along those lines, the competition is downgraded. In other words, don't be surprised when guys putting up 20 and 10 in these games aren't doing that against the likes of North Carolina and Duke.

Keeping that in mind, I'll still be excited to track the players - particularly the newcomers Manigault, Kithcart, and Nix.
