Preseason watch list time continues with another pair of Panthers up for a prestigious award. Guard Dorian Johnson and tackle Adam Bisnowaty were both named to the preseason watch list for the Outland Trophy.
The award is given to the top 'interior' lineman in college football on offense or defense. Even though they're on the 'outside' of the offensive line in terms of the guards and center, offensive tackles like Bisnowaty are eligible.
Even though defensive tackles are up for the award, lately it's been an honor reserved for an offensive lineman. The lone defensive guy that's won the honor in the past six years? That would be former Pitt standout Aaron Donald, who won it back in 2013 along with pretty much every other defensive award he could possibly claim.
Both Johnson and Bisnowaty could earn a ton of recognition if Pitt's running game remains strong. The pair helped pave the way for James Conner's 1,765-yard, record 26-touchdown season two years ago as well as Qadree Ollison's ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year season in 2015 when Conner went down with an injury.
