More preseason watch list honors rolled in for Pitt football players and on Friday, Jordan Whitehead was one of the latest recipients. The sophomore safety was named to the Bronko Nagurski Award preseason watch list for 2016, given to the nation's top defensive player.
I continue to be amazed that Whitehead is picking up so much steam on a national level. Yes, he was named as a Freshman All-American last year and was the ACC's Defensive Rookie of the Year as well. But the amount of recognition he is getting outside of the conference is turning some heads.
A few days ago, the Bednarik Award (another top defensive Player of the Year honor) named Whitehead to their watch list. Before that, NFL.com listed him as one of their top ten most versatile college players, noting his work on offense. Whitehead is an incredible talent and it's great to see him recognized nationally so early in his career.
