Another preseason watch list was released prior to the start of the season and three Panthers found their way onto the list.
Up for the Rotary Lombardi Award are James Conner, Adam Bisnowaty, and Dorian Johnson. The award is given annually to the top player in college football demonstrating outstanding performances as well as great leadership. Former Pitt players to win the award were Hugh Green and Aaron Donald.
The award is named after the legendary Green Bay Packers head coach Vince Lombardi.
Previously only open to interior linemen, then also linebackers and tight ends, it's now an award open to all position players. Obviously, that will make it harder for any Pitt player to win it. A guy like James Conner tailor-made for the award. But that's also dependent upon him having some semblance of a big season. And if he does, that likely also throws Bisnowaty and Johnson into the mix, too, since they're going to be blocking for him.
Still great to see a little more recognition for these guys heading into the year.
