Pitt's volleyball team has been steadily improving and has put together two consecutive 20-win seasons. Last year, the team was 23-9 while 2014 saw the team go 25-6.
The ACC preseason poll was released on Friday and the Panthers were picked to have another strong year, being picked fifth overall out of the 15-team conference. To give you an idea of what kind of win total that could mean, the 23-9 record last year was good for sixth in the conference. The team also placed redshirt senior Jenna Potts onto the preseason All-ACC team. Potts was named ACC Player of the Week once last year as part of a strong season.
North Carolina topped the early poll.
Despite the strong years, the program has been left on the outside looking in when it's come to the NCAA Tournament. But hopefully this is the year they can finally break through and get into the event. Head coach Dan Fisher has helped raise the national profile by not only participating as a coach for Team USA, but also leading the program to back-to-back 20-win years.
Here are the complete preseason rankings.
