Does Quadree Henderson have inside track to starting wide receiver spot?

With Tyler Boyd gone, there's been a lot of focus on the now vacant wide receiver spot opposite presumed starter (and one of last year's starters) Dontez Ford. While we've only had one day of training camp so far, does someone already have the inside track?

I wrote earlier about position battles and one that I intentionally left out was wide receiver just because it's been such a focal point in the offseason and I wanted to give it its own space.

On Monday, the Post-Gazette's Craig Meyer tweeted that true sophomore Quadree Henderson was taking first-team reps alongside Ford:

Obviously it's still early. But Henderson having an inside track doesn't seem far-fetched, either. He played last year as a true freshman and was one of three WR1s listed in the preseason depth chart along with Ford and Jester Weah. He's a big-play type of guy (he led the team in kickoff return yardage last year and returned a kick in the Military Bowl back for a touchdown last year) but other than that, he's mostly an unknown. How good he can be is anyone's guess at this point.

Henderson will surely get a lot of competition from the likes of Weah, Zach Challingsworth, and others, so I don't think we can pencil him in as the team's starter just yet. But after one day, it looks like he has gotten first crack at trying to fill a major vacancy.
