Doctor Robert: Pitt-North Carolina Injury Report

An updated look at the Panthers’ injuries heading into Saturday’s game

NCAA Football: Louisville at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Pitt is banged up - we all know that. Looking beyond the season-long injuries already discussed before, there’s not a whole lot new for this week.

The latest is that the new depth chart reflects the loss of Dontez Ford, who was listed as questionable last week. It was first speculated, then formally announced that he is out for the foreseeable future with a collarbone injury.

One interesting insight regarding Ford is something head coach Pat Narduzzi said at the press conference this week. Narduzzi expects him back, in his words, sooner rather than later. I don’t know if that’s just coachspeak but if that holds true, it would be helpful.

And, of course we continue to wait to see if there will be any new news on the health of freshman cornerback Damar Hamlin. Narduzzi said recently that he could still play this year and with nine games left, there’s still plenty of time to work him in there. Now, given how Narduzzi has treated releasing injury information, it’s hard to glean much usefulness from that type of statement. Obviously, given how the cornerbacks looked last week, providing some depth there would be great.
