Pitt vs. North Carolina: Open Gamethread

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Here we go, folks.

Pitt's ACC season officially starts today with a tough road contest against North Carolina. The Tar Heels are 2-1 on the season and have given the Panthers' fits ever since joining the conference. Most recently, they are off an easy win over James Madison, crushing them last weekend to the tune of 56-28.

The Panthers, meanwhile, suffered a disappointing loss to Oklahoma State, falling in the final few minutes, 45-38 after a lengthy weather delay.

Pitt tries to get back on track today and it won't be easy with another difficult opponent. I look for the team to try to have success running the ball with James Conner and company since run defense is an area where the Tar Heels have been a little vulnerable this season. That the running game is a strength for Pitt, too, is a good sign and makes that an even more obvious approach.

Game time is at 3:30 p.m. and we hope you'll join us here to comment live during the game.
