Going Scouting: Those We Don’t Speak Of

Want to get a look at Pitt’s next opponent? We won’t say their names, but will give you three guesses at who it is and the first two don’t count.

Welcome back to our weekly column during football season where we let you know where you can check out Pitt’s next opponent. This allows you to act like you are on the coaching staff and pick up on formations and the habits of the Panthers’ next opponent a week in advance.

This week, we pay homage to the 2004 M. Night Shyamalan film, The Village. If you need a refresher, there was a group that the village of people did not call by name. They simply called them “Those We Don’t Speak Of” and we will be using this today to address Pitt’s next opponent that happens to hail from State College, PA.

Those We Don’t Speak Of will travel to the North Shore next weekend for a noon showdown with Pitt. It’s been a long anticipated matchup, but just as Pitt takes on Villanova this afternoon, Those We Don’t Speak Of also have a game of their own. They have a new offensive coordinator, so it will be worth checking out.

You can check out next week’s opponent when they host the Kent State Golden Flashes this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. on the Big Ten Network. The Flashes are coming off a 3-9 season and was only 2-6 in the MAC conference. The Flashes’ fourth-year coach, Paul Haynes, will take Kent State to the middle of Pennsylvania to try and improve on his overall record of 9-26.

The Pitt game, hopefully, will no longer be in doubt by the time Those We Don’t Speak Of kickoff at 3:30 p.m. and you can start to see what next week might have in store for the Panthers.
