Pitt volleyball continues roll with sweep of Syracuse

2016 Volleyball PittsburghPanthers.com

The Pitt volleyball team keeps playing and they keep winning. The Panthers won their 11th contest in a row with a 3-0 sweep over Syracuse Friday afternoon. As a result, Pitt moves to 11-4 on the season and remains a perfect 7-0 in ACC play.

I wrote earlier this week that the team is not only winning but doing so pretty comfortably. That was again sort of the case on Friday as Pitt won all three sets. The Panthers, however, were challenged a little, needing overtime in the first two sets before winning them 26-24. The team then took the final set by a score of 25-19.

My guess is that head coach Dan Fisher might disagree with the sentiment that the Panthers are winning easily. Many sets, after all, have been close. But the fact remains that Pitt hasn’t been taken to a fifth set in any of these 11 straight wins and six have been shutouts.

Next up for the Panthers is a match at Boston College on Sunday. Pitt defeated them earlier this season, 3-1, and the Eagles are only 5-12 on the season.
