Against the Odds: Pitt underdogs to Duke

NCAA Football: Duke at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The odds for Pitt’s next game were released on Sunday and, as you probably expected, the Panthers are underdogs.

Seeing Pitt not favored isn’t a surprise. They’re facing a team with a significantly better record and are on the road. But the game’s opening line of Duke -8 was a little surprising to me.

I think the Blue Devils should be ranked by to see them favored by more than a touchdown might be a bit high. Duke has played a significantly easier schedule than Pitt and, if the schedules were reversed, I could see Duke struggling as much as the Panthers have. Duke’s four wins came against NC Central, Virginia, winless Baylor and 1-6 North Carolina.

My personal belief is that the teams are much closer than what their records indicate. But what say you about the line for this weekend?
