The Pitt men’s soccer team is on quite a tear. The Panthers have won five of their past six matches and three of those wins have come against ranked teams. The team’s lone defeat was against yet another ranked foe in No. 19 Duke.
Poll voters are taking notice and, despite the team’s six losses (they are 8-6 overall), Pitt is gaining quite a bit of steam in the polls.
TopDrawerSoccer had Pitt all the way up at No. 18 in their Top 25 this week. And while the Panthers didn’t get into the Coaches Poll, they were No. 30 there as the team with the fifth highest point total in the Others Receiving Votes category.
The latter might sound hard to believe given all of Pitt’s big wins lately but they also have six losses. No one ranked in the poll had more than four so that makes it easier to understand.
Either way, though, the soccer team is really starting to get more national attention with these big victories.
