Pitt volleyball with tough tests this weekend

Chinaza Ndee 2017 Volleyball 2

The Pitt women’s volleyball team has had little trouble winning matches most of the season. The team is 15-4 and hasn’t lost in the past month and a half, winning 12 straight.

This weekend, however, the team will see a significant step up in competition. Pitt will first host North Carolina on Friday night. The Tar Heels are a modest 9-7 on the year, but are also 6-2 in conference and are still in the thick of things. North Carolina isn’t great this season but still a tough challenge. Earlier this season, they defeated 13-5 Louisville and took 13-6 NC State to five sets, nearly giving them their sole conference blemish.

Sunday’s matchup is even bigger. There, the Panthers will have their own chance to knock NC State from the perch of unbeaten conference teams. The Panthers and Wolfpack are the last two unbeatens in the ACC so this match has a chance to be the one that determines the regular season conference champion. It’s the only match the two teams will play this year in the regular season so it’s a big one to be sure.

Both matches will be at home and will be televised on WatchESPN.
