Pitt’s Brian O’Neill Candidate for 2017 Piesman Trophy

NCAA Football: Miami at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

After winning SB Nation’s Piesman award in 2016, Pitt offensive tackle Brian O’Neill is back for more. O’Neill is one of 21 candidates for the award that goes to the best throw, run, or catch by an offensive lineman.

O’Neill is a candidate for catching a pass that nearly went for a touchdown in the Panthers’ game against NC State earlier this season. Unlike last year, he didn’t get into the end zone but was brought down around the 1-yard line. O’Neill won the award in 2016 for his touchdown reception/lateral against Georgia Tech and a touchdown run against Virginia Tech.

You can see all of the Piesman candidates for 2017 and vote for O’Neill here.
