Former Pitt receiver Manasseh Garner added to Redskins’ roster for final game

Former Pitt receiver Manasseh Garner has bounced around the league quite a bit. He’s been a tight end on the Washington Redskins’ practice squad all season but is now getting a shot to play in a game this year. This week, Garner was added to the team’s roster after they waived running back Kenny Hilliard.

Garner talked a little about the opportunity.

“I mean, in all honesty for me, it’s just…it’s a promotion,” Garner said. “It just means that they value my effort. They value the work I’ve put on the field. For me, it’s just like it’s an evaluation. They’re paying attention and they like what they see. That’s how I take it.”

It actually looked like Garner might join the team sooner. At one point, they had two healthy tight ends. But the team had other injuries, too, and needed to add other players at different positions instead.

Garner has played in one other NFL game previously with the Bills last year and he didn’t record a catch.
