Ryan Luther ‘doubtful’ for Louisville return, per Kevin Stallings

NCAA Basketball: Lehigh at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Pitt has another difficult ACC matchup on Tuesday against Louisville and the Panthers look like they will again be without senior Ryan Luther.

It doesn’t sound as if Luther, still recovering from a stress reaction in his foot, will be ready. Following Pitt’s game against Miami on Saturday where Luther sat out, head coach Kevin Stallings called him ‘doubtful’ for the contest. He is hopeful to get him back later in the week but didn’t think he’d be ready for Tuesday.

Luther was missed against the Hurricanes as the Panthers struggled on offense. Pitt scored only 53 points and shot only 40% from the field. The Panthers also had a bad night on the boards without their leading rebounder as Miami led Pitt in rebounding, 31-23.

Obviously that’s bad news for Pitt. I’ll have a little more on this later, but it’s going to be particularly tough against a team like Louisville, which has some quality big men.
