Pitt women’s basketball team ends non-conference season with New Year’s Eve game

NCAA Womens Basketball: Pittsburgh at Notre Dame Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

The Pitt women’s basketball team was defeated in their ACC opener on Thursday, losing to Virginia, 62-50. But the Panthers still have one more non-conference game before they get fully into ACC play.

Today, Pitt faces Chicago State at the Pete at 1:00 p.m. For the Panthers, it’s a good chance to get back on track. Pitt didn’t just lose to Virginia - they’ve also dropped five of their last seven games. A win here would put them at 8-6 and hopefully get things headed in the right direction.

Chicago State is, in a word, not very good. They’re 0-14 and have failed to score more than 40 points in four different games this season. Loyola held the to 28. In other words, this should be a game to help give Pitt a little momentum heading into the rest of ACC play.
