Ryan Solomon named ACC Wrestler of the Week after upset of No. 3 Jacob Kasper

As I said in the recap of the Pitt-Duke dual, Ryan Solomon had a decent shot to take home ACC Wrestler of the Week honors after his upset win over No. 3 Jacob Kasper. Sure enough, Solomon had his name called on Tuesday for that award.

Pulling off the victory against Kasper was no small feat. He hadn't lost in 20 bouts and the loss to Solomon was only his second of the season. He's very much a national championship contender.

It was his second time securing the honor this year as he won it back near the start of the season as well. 133-pounder Dom Forys has also won it twice.

I'll be looking to see how this impacts his overall individual rankings as well. Solomon was already a top 20 guy and this should give him a nice bump.

The Panthers get a break this weekend and then will participate in the ACC Tournament the following weekend in Raleigh.
