Against the Odds: Georgia Tech is given a slim edge over Pitt, by Vegas

Georgia Tech and Pitt are in survival mode as the season winds down, and Vegas gives GT the edge.

NCAA Basketball: North Carolina State at Georgia Tech Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

It will be Senior Night in Atlanta this evening and Georgia Tech is in desperate need of a victory. So is Pitt. Both teams come in with two game losing streaks when they really couldn’t afford it, in regards to the NCAA bubble. Pitt now stands at 15-14 and 4-12 in the ACC, while the Yellow Jackets are 16-13 and 7-9 in the conference. Both squads have two remaining conference games and you have to believe that Georgia Tech gets in with a .500 ACC record. Vegas has installed the Jackets as a two point favorite over Pitt this evening.

The game tips off at 9PM and can be seen on ESPNU. The last two losses for both teams were big blows to their tourney resumes. Georgia Tech bowed to NC State and Notre Dame and both were close games that they really needed. First year head man Josh Pastner will look to the home court advantage of McCamish Pavilion to lift the Jackets to victory tonight. Kevin Stallings will rely on his dynamic duo and hope that someone else shows up this evening to support Jamel Artis and Michael Young.

For both teams it isn’t really win and you are in this evening, BUT, it is lose and you’re probably out without a magical run in the conference tournament. No team wants to have to win the ACC Tourney to get into the big dance. It’s even more daunting when you look at the conference as a whole. Running the table with this conference, to be kind, just isn’t happening for these two teams.
