Pitt NFL Draft Projections: James Conner

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Next up in our quick hitters of potential Pitt NFL Draft picks is probably the most intriguing guy in running back James Conner.

Conner's battle and subsequent comeback are well documented. He had an incredible 2014 season before missing almost all of 2015 and returning to have a great year in 2016 before declaring early for the draft. Conner's 2016 didn't top the mammoth 2014 year that he had as the ACC Player of the Year, but he more than answered any questions if he can still produce.

Last year, Conner ran for 1,092 yards while posting career-bests in catches (21) and yardage (302). His tremendous 189-yard (rushing and receiving) and two touchdown game against then-unbeaten Clemson also proved he can play with the best of the best.

Conner's projections are all over the board right now. ESPN.com recently left him out of their top 100 prospects and CBS Sports calls him a fifth-rounder. But others have had him higher, such as WalterFootball.com, which called him a third-rounder.

Where do you have James slotted?
