Pitt Basketball Recruiting: Shamiel Stevenson officially signs with Panthers

The Pitt Panthers officially inked another player to its 2017 recruiting class in small forward Shamiel Stevenson. Stevenson had committed to the program back in January but had not yet signed.

While considered a small forward, head coach Kevin Stallings says he has the ability to play multiple positions for the team.

“Shamiel will arrive on campus with ACC-level strength and athleticism as a freshman,” said head coach Kevin Stallings. “He is an outstanding athlete with the potential to be an efficient scorer and high-level defender in the top conference in the country. Shamiel’s versatility and toughness will allow him to play multiple positions in our system.”

Stevenson averaged 14.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game last season for Hillcrest Prep.

He was the lone uncommitted guy left so there isn't any more hand-wringing to still be done about guys that have already vowed to join the program. Now it's all about trying to fill the five vacant spots left on the roster.
