The Panthers lost a close game to Cleveland State on Monday night after giving up the game winner in the 84th minute.
Pitt ended up playing a man down for most of the game after a red card ejection at 33:37, but led until 76’, and tied it back up 3 minutes later. Sophomore F Edward Kizza notched a hat trick for the 2nd time this season. He now has 11 goals on the season, which ties him for 10th on Pitt’s all time list of most goals in a season with 5 games to go.
Pitt has already matched its conference win total from last year with 2 ACC wins, and still have 3 ACC games left to go. Considering the team hadn’t won a single ACC game in 2016 and was 2-13 overall, head coach Jay Vidovich has shown a steady improvement since he was hired in 2015. Pitt also notched an upset earlier this year over #12 NC State, so there has been some bright spots for this season already.
The Panthers’ next game is a road trip to Blacksburg, VA against Virginia Tech on Friday, 10/12.
