Against the Odds: Pitt favored against Virginia Tech

NCAA Football: Pittsburgh at Virginia Tech Lee Luther Jr.-USA TODAY Sports

Pitt heads into this weekend’s matchup with Virginia Tech in foreign territory to some degree. No, the Panthers aren’t playing on the road. But things are a little different as Pitt actually finds itself as the favorite this weekend.

The Panthers opened at four-point favorites and while that line has come down a little, most still have the Panthers favored by about 2 12 to 3 points. For what it’s worth, Pitt will be playing the game at home and that’s generally seen as worth about three points. On the road, it’d be closer to a pick ‘em.

Pitt hasn’t been favored in a game in some time and you have to go back to the game against North Carolina when they were last expected to win. Ironically, they lost that game but have won three of the five since when they were the underdog (Syracuse, Virginia, and Duke).

What do you think about the line if we use the three-point barometer? Vote in the poll below.
