Pitt’s coaching search to date has been ... interesting. It may not necessarily be a disaster yet and the idea that it can’t be termed as such until a hire is made is a reasonable suggestion.
However, what we do know is that the Panthers are apparently, if nothing else, missing on some quality men’s basketball coaching candidates. How many have had offers may not be necessarily known at this point. But there has apparently been some interest in the likes of Tom Crean, Danny Hurley, and Thad Matta with Pitt certainly out of the running on the first two and likely the third as well.
Rumors have popped up with Pitt apparently showing interest in lower-level guys, although that’s come with conflicting reports. I’ve been through enough of these to know not to get too caught up in the rumors yet. But given that Pitt still finds itself without a coach about 2 1⁄2 weeks after firing Kevin Stallings, are you panicking about the program’s position yet?
